EdgeProducts project

The 6.2.2 version of EdgeProducts will be released on the 16th of September after rigorous testing and validation. The members of our team took a great part in the testing and the development of this release.

EdgeProducts is a complex medical software package that was created and developed by the French INLOG SA more than ten years ago. One of the biggest teams of Synthesis-Net participates in the development, testing, and localization of the software package.

EdgeProducts was written in SQL Windows and C++, and was based on Oracle databases to handle and store data. A software package consists of several modules where the main modules contain a blood management component capable of supporting a nationwide blood supply network, a tissue transplantation component on nationwide level, a laboratory process support component, a hospital administration component, a billing component, and a standardized interface component that manifests the connections between these various modules. These modules can be used independently, or as an integrated system.

The whole software package is used by the French blood supply service, namely the EFS. Apart from that, the modules are used in different language environments and different countries around the world. Among our most important clients are: Germany, Netherlands and the U.S.

Comprehensive blood management software application

The collaboration between Synthesis-Net and our largest U.S partner, Haemonetics Corporations, has reached another important milestone at the end of July.

ElDorado Donor 2.2, a joint development of a management software for blood banks and hospitals, was released to help the work of even more hospitals and healthcare centers – including South Texas Blood & Tissue Center, an organisation that serves over 100 hospitals and clinics – with its rich set of features shaped by the users themselves.

Earlier versions of the product have been approved for sale by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) since February 2008.

A dedicated team of developers and testers is currently working on the next version of the application, which is scheduled for release by the end of this year.

New quality management assignment

The Canadian division of the Haemonetics Corp. assigned us in mid October to test the Donor Management System (DMS) with a newly created and fully dedicated team. Our company increased by four software testing professionals.

The Haemonetics Corp. is a global leader in blood processing technology traded on the New York Stock Exchange. The main profile of the company is blood and blood plasma collection and management. Our team is continuously testing the blood plasma donor management system, developed by the Haemonetics Corp., according strict rules in close contact with Canadian customer.

ISO 9001 Introduction

With the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan grant program established in cooperation with the European Regional Development Found (ERDF) and the Republic of Hungary, our company was recently awarded a grant covering the procurement of hardware, software tools, and the introduction of ISO 9001 quality control standards.

Through this grant, Synthesis-NET has not only improved its software and hardware infrastructure, but also introduced a quality control system in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 standard’s requirements officially certified by the German TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH. The scope of the system: Software development and development of proprietary software for third parties as an outsource partner.

ElDorado Report Server 2.0

In December 2010, our staff completed the ElDorado Report Server. This tool provides a Web interface for ElDorado Donor™ through which customers can run different reports for statistical uses.

In addition to the 26 built-in reports, the tool also allows users to define ad hoc queries. The application has its own rights management system and runs on an Oracle database. Technologies used: ASP.NET, SQL and Crystal Reports XI.

2010 Android App contest

On Thursday October 14, 2010 Synthesis-NET awarded prizes to the winners of an Android application contest that they organized this summer aimed at students from the Széchenyi István University. The contest sought ideas that had potential to become the newest sensation for Android-based phones. First prize was awarded to Tamás Szabó who will join the Synthesis-NET team for the next 5 months to make his idea a reality. Guests at the award ceremony included the President of the University, Tamás Szekeres, and the CEO of Szintézis Informatics Inc., István Szabó.

3. World BPO/ITO Forum Summit

Our company attended the World BPO/ITO Forum in New Jersey on the 28-29th July. The conference was targeted to medium sized US companies. The presenatations were held around the topic of outsourcing business and IT processes, and discussed the the challenges and experiences within this field. Many of the presenters denoted that in order to successfully emerge from the global recession, companies have to adjust to a “new normal,” where the continous optimization of business processes is vital. Part of this optimization is the outsourcing of business and IT processes to external partners, partially based in a foreign country. During such a cooperation, it is important to work out a win/win situation as fast as possible. In an unstable environment as we are in now, there is no time to learn from our own mistakes, and successful companies have to learn quickly from the experience of others.

A lesson emphasized in the conference we already knew was that there is not a single global strategy in outsourcing: there are different challenges for each client, but there is a successful model for each which we have to find together. Our company has the advantage of a great deal of experience from the many successful projects we completed as an outsourcing partner during the last several years.

Synthesis-Net is spreading

Starting mid-May, Synthesis-Net will be commencing work on a new project for French based company INLOG S.A, developing their EDGEBlood software. The extra team members required for the project has brought staff levels at Synthesis-NET from 34 to 38.

Combined with applications like EDGELab, with which it shares a database, EDGEBlood manages all transfusion centre's medico-technical activities, from the organisation of blood donations through to traceability of patient transfusions.
EDGEBlood can also be associated with INLOG's HLA and tissue/cell management modules. New partner, new project (SapaNet)

In October a two man team from our company joined a new project called SapaNet. With this union, our company expanded our partnership with French based company INLOG S.A.. INLOG S.A. is part of the Haemonetics company group, whose profile is medical software development. SapaNet is a laboratory ERP system for managing processes, activities and quality control in laboratories. We are proud to have another team that is working with a new foreign partner.

T-Logic Central Permissioning Service for SOA (TCPS)

TCPS is used for managing authorizations of process based applications in a SOA environment. It is an externalized and centralized service, that makes authorization decisions based on the rules that are stored in it, the parameters that are given to it and the information provided to it by other external systems. Server performance monitoring application

As of June 2009, we continued to workwith a long-term client in Germany to extend the functionality of one of their products which we helped develop. The CODI Web application monitors performance usage of servers to facilitate cost calculations and invoicing in large server parks. Our newest project with this client is to develop a solution aimed to monitor, gather and store resource usage date from servers operating in a Microsoft Technology Environment. More >>

Mobile module for SafeTrace® system

In August, a new version of Mobile Collection was released. This application is a mobile module of the SafeTrace system used on laptops. SafeTrace is a blood bank business process support system. In this new release the communication interface that enables information exchange with the DonorDoc system was implemented.

SafeTrace®: Complex is a UNIX based business process support system with a character based user interface. The first version of SafeTrace system was released in the middle of the 1980’s, and following the trends in these times, it was developed in COBOL with Oracle database support. Given the high maturity, reliability, and availability of SafeTrace, it is still the system preferred by Hospitals and Blood Centers. The SafeTrace system continues to be developed, adapting to the customer’s needs and expanding the program with new modules.

DonorDoc®: A module of SafeTrace, DonorDoc is a web application that was developed to automate and streamline pre-donation administrative tasks.. The system is developed in ASP.NET 2.0, with Oracle database support. This module registers and analyzes the results of the donor’s questionnaire, and records the results of pre-donation testing. This information is then forwarded to the SafeTrace or Mobile Collection systems.

Mobile Collection®: Also a module of the SafeTrace system, Mobile Collection provides a more intuitive, easy to use interface compared to the character based user interface. The most recent version of Mobile Collection is developed in Delphi 2007 with Oracle 10g, and Oracle 9i support. Migration of this product to .NET is planned for a future release.

Procuration system for blood banks

In the past year SafeTraceTx®, a procuration system developed for blood banks, has been upgraded. The upgrade also included the two side modules of SafeTraceTx®: Instrument Interface® and HL7®. These applications are also part of the product list of Wyndgate Technologies®.

The main properties of SafeTraceTx® product family are:

SafeTraceTx®: This software is a complex procuration system for transfusion institutes. It is the core application of the SafeTraceTx product family. Its services range from keeping track of the inventory of accessories that are used for transfusion, through the manufacturing of the blood components, up to the transfusion of blood is covered by the application.

SafeTraceTx Instrument Interface®: Nowadays, testing performed on the blood units donated by donors or patients is performed on special devices. These devices (or test instruments) receive orders for tests electronically and the results of tests are returned electronically also. The Instrument Interface® module makes the communication possible between the SafeTraceTx® core and the test devices.

SafeTraceTx HL7®: A range of different procuration systems are used by hospitals throughout the world. The communication between these individual systems remained an unsolved problem for a long time. Health Level Seven (HL7) is an organization that has been formed to resolve this issue, and it has created a standard that is accepted by the main software vendors in the world of healthcare applications. The SafeTraceTx HL7® module is an implementation of this standard and is used to exchange of date between SafeTraceTx® core and foreign systems.

The upgrade encompassed the following areas: Correction of bugs discovered by the users during the years. Adding new functions based on user feed-back. Making the use of Oracle 10 database possible. (In the previous version only Oracle 9 was available)

Even though the release of this version is close, the development of SafeTraceTx® will not be stopped. The application will be extended with new features, to be published in a new release.
